A Mother’s Pathway… A Gift that Connects!
Growing up my mother always told me “The Power of Positive thinking promotes Positive results”.
One very special day, it was clear mom was not at her best . Though she smiled and hugged and sang a beautiful tune while she baked in the kitchen, there was something just not right. That evening, we curled up on the couch, mother and daughter, almost as one. We were tired from the activities of the day but content. After a time of rest and relaxation, I leaned in and asked …
“Mom, what special treat can I offer you?” I waited but an instance for my mother’s reply. As if on cue, she beamed and radiated and all at once I was captivated by her sweet smile and endearing way. Though she seemed a tad fatigued her true Inner beauty seemed to illuminate like never before. ‘My child’, she said…” BELIEVE in the positive within YOU! If Life gives you choice – hold on to it tight. It is a gift you must treasure and hold dear to your heart. You are a mother now. One of the great joys of being a mother is feeling the sensation of unconditional love. Love and Trust, Commitment and Accountability will forever keep us connected. We must believe deeply, we must care deeply and above all we must love deeply.” She then reached over and held my hand.
My mothers words left me speechless. I had not expected to hear such profound statements. Yet, the time seemed right for me to hear them. I cannot find the words to explain. All I can say is that the night seemed to be unfolding as it should. It was unlike me to be so quiet yet the silence seemed so comfortable that I dared not break it. We sat for a long time that evening, fondly remembering days gone by, glowing in the love of the present, and playfully dreaming about exciting destinations that were on the horizon. It had been a warm and special day. It turned out to be a thoughtful and memorable evening.
It would be the last Mother’s Day we physically spent together but it would not be forgotten. The memories live on and the extraordinary mother and daughter connection we shared still plays a huge role in my life. Today and everyday, I celebrate the amazing relationship I had with my mom and I treasure the living we enjoyed and we shared. Today, I offer my mother’s message to my own son “Believe in the Positive in YOU”.
I am so very proud to be a Mother and to love my son unconditionally. The wonderful bond I share with my son today is in part because of all the beautiful words of encouragement , treasures & experiences my mom shared with me. Connection has made a difference in my life and I believe connection can make a positive difference in your life too. For all of us, one connection at a time, let us ‘Feel the Sensations”, imagine the possibilities and achieve our goals. Let us invest in relationship because the rewards are beyond measure and everlasting.
