Thailand

The signposts on Tara’s roadmap tell something of her passion for living.  Getting out, seeing as much as there is to see in this world has formed a huge cornerstone of her life.  Nothing speaks to this more than her long-ago trip to Southeast Asia where she discovered many things (both foreign and domestic) that have stayed with her for a very long time.   “First Chance”! she said.  ” I’m going”. This was after starting work for a local airline where, like many, she joined with the idea of mixing a little travel play with a smidgen of work effort. For a number of her cohorts the work took over leaving little room for travel. (For many of us the ‘bills’ in responsibility can be a powerful damper on our dreams and wishes)  But, for Tara, there was going to be One Trip, One Journey… as much for the idea of resistance as for the actual  joy of discovery. And so, with mind firmly set, she went to work to make IT happen.  And so IT did.  Several arduous months later she and a dear friend were on their way: Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia

Postcard From Thailand:

“Hey gang, having a great time.  Eating some hot Thai dishes and meeting some amazing locals.  So friendly and inviting.  Beautiful beaches and Moonlight swims.  Very C’est What!

Met one fellow, says he’s from Ottawa.  Nice enough for a Canuck… a little crazy on the Moto Scooter. Claims to like the Rolling Stones though, so I might give him a second chance.

Funny thing, if you travel far enough, you sometimes end up right back where you started.  I wonder what the future holds???

All’s well, having a great time.  See ya in a month … or two if I can push IT.

Love Tara”

Now, who goes to the other side of the world and brings back a husband as a souvenir?  Well, Tara did!  That Canuck with the Moto Scooter… married him; has kept him happily revving his engines for more than twenty years.   And the adventure continues, the lifebook turns its pages.  So many stories, so little time. This is one’s person tale, just a story.  Sure, the exotic locale helps, but life is full of adventurous yarns; around the world or just across the street.  That is what we want you to discover at taramarkus.com; shared stories that reveal the beauty of our lives.  Stories about wonderfully talented  people who lead the way with inspired acts; stories of elders who have been made majestic by the sheer toil of their years.  And when you read them, these stories, it is our hope that we will all more deeply understand the incredible joy and beauty of living each of our special lives.  We all have magical moments, everyday of life we hav’em.  Small Moments:  the sound and feel of soft wind, the honest lilt of a compliment freely given. Big Moments:  a trip, a marriage, birth… death.  All around us, all the time.  And when we listen to these stories, and share our own, we become more keenly aware of the golden glow of our own existence.  We become more connected.  Ultimately we become more invested in the glorious joy of just living.

Tara Markus welcomes you to her special place. She hopes you find her website to be filled with honest tales that are full of life events that help us connect; connect with one another and, sometimes, connect with ourself.  I welcome you and I am happy to have shared one of the tales from our storybook.  Thailand was long ago and far away, but the memory of the serendipitous meeting still brings a smile to my face.  I look forward to writing to you again in the months ahead so I can spin a few more tales.  In the meantime, I encourage you to think about your own storybook.  Get it out, blow of the dust and have a good read. I believe it will make you smile too.

Love the postcards :-) Particularly the one with the boats on the beach! Reminds me of Goa!

    Keep writing!

Hello and thank you so very much for your comment.

I spent much time in Thailand and South East Asia. It was an experience of a lifetime and it most certainly enriched my life as a whole.

My husband has been to India (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) but did not make it to Goa. Perhaps one day we will go together and enjoy the people and sights.

We love living in Canada but our Passport is always very close at hand. We have traveled far and wide but still have far to go! Looking forward to many more adventures!

Thank yo for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated. Wishing you all the best.

    In Celebration,
    Tara
